LAF is a pendant with a large glass globe 30 cm across, hung on a black cable from a white ceiling rose. The glass is clear, in a warm amber tint, open at the bottom; the socket sleeve and the rose are white metal. Overall height 80 cm. The glass is clear — the bulb shows That is what sets this lamp's character. The shade does not hide the source: the bulb is visible through the amber glass and becomes part of the composition. Two things follow. First, it is worth choosing a decorative bulb — a G95/G125 globe or a visible-filament type. An ordinary frosted bulb will read as a white blob inside. Second, the amber glass warms the light: even a neutral 4000 K bulb comes out noticeably warmer through it. If you want genuinely warm light, take a 2700 K source and the glass will reinforce it. In practice it means LED only, which is sensible with a glass globe and the bulb sitting just below the socket: LED does not heat the glass. 15 W in LED is a great deal anyway — up to 1500 lm. Over a table or in a kitchen, 7–9 W (800–1000 lm) makes sense; with a decorative filament bulb 4–6 W is often enough, since in this lamp the look of the glowing source counts too. No bulb is included — the manufacturer states so explicitly. Colour, brightness and dimming therefore depend entirely on the bulb; the fitting itself contains no electronics. Dimensions and where to hang it The globe is 30 × 30 cm and the whole lamp 80 cm tall including the cable. It is a single, emphatic point: it works over a kitchen island (often in a row of two or three at 60–80 cm centres), over a round table, or beside a staircase, where the globe is seen from several levels. Over a worktop the usual figure is 70–90 cm from the surface to the bottom of the shade. Because the glass is clear the lamp does not block the view, so it can hang lower than an opaque shade of the same diameter.
