Arno is a Quintiesse table lamp in which a vertically fluted glass cylinder sits in a base built from several brass rings. The glass carries a smoked grey tint and the metal is finished in aged brass. The light source sits down in the base and shines upwards, through the full height of the glass. How much room it takes The lamp is 364 mm tall and 171 mm across, so it occupies a circle of just under 17 cm on the surface — a bedside table, a console or a chest of drawers all take it. At 3.2 kg it stands firmly and will not shift if someone tugs the cable. The height is not adjustable. The glass is not screwed down but seated between the brass rings of the base, so it lifts off for cleaning — the manufacturer also lists it separately as spare part GS1023. The carton measures 55 × 26 × 26 cm and weighs 3.55 kg. How much light it gives The light source is included: a 9 W GX53 LED module giving 600 lm at 3000 K. That is a warm white, and 600 lumens is roughly what an old 55 W bulb produced — Arno lights a corner alongside the main lighting rather than replacing it. The manufacturer quotes 25,000 hours of life. The LED is not integrated: it sits in a GX53 socket, so years later you change the module rather than the lamp. Light travels upwards and passes through the vertical flutes of the glass, which break it into narrow bands — hence the pattern of light on the shade and around the lamp. Connection and build The lamp works straight out of the box: it has a cable with a plug and an in-line switch, so no fixed wiring is involved. It runs on 220–240 V in protection class I, which means the socket has to be earthed. Dimming is only possible by fitting a dimmable smart lamp in the socket — the fitting itself has no dimmer.
