The PROFI 3Y LED strip is a 10 mm wide, 3 mm thick tape wound on a 5 metre reel. Every metre carries 320 diodes of type 2835 SMD — 1600 on the reel — running at a cold white 6500 K. The strip is cut every 25 mm, at the points marked on it. How much light it gives One metre gives 3115 lm. An old 60 W incandescent managed around 800 lm, so a metre is worth roughly four of them — working light rather than a decorative glow. The whole five metre reel delivers around 15 500 lm. At 6500 K the light is cold white, cooler than daylight. Colour rendering reaches Ra 90, so colours read faithfully under it, which matters over a worktop, in a dressing room and anywhere shades have to be told apart. The maker runs the same strip in 3000 K and 4000 K too. Supply, cutting and dimming The strip runs on 24 V constant voltage and draws 24 W per metre, which is 120 W for a full reel. That is what the separately chosen 24 V driver has to carry, and it is the first number to work out before buying, because it decides whether the whole reel can be fed from one point. The cut pitch is 25 mm, so the strip shortens every 2.5 cm along the marked lines. The 10 mm board width decides which aluminium profile it fits — the channel has to be at least that wide. The product card states that dimming is possible only with specified dimmers, so the controller is chosen to suit the strip rather than the other way round. Where it can work, and for how long The IP20 rating restricts it to dry interiors: the strip is not potted, so it suits neither a shower zone nor the outdoors. The working temperature range runs from -20 °C to +60 °C, so an unheated utility room does it no harm. The maker declares a lifetime of 50 000 hours to L70/B50, meaning at least half the diodes still hold at least 70% of their initial brightness at that point. The switching cycle count exceeds 50 000, and the strip carries a five year warranty. Its energy efficiency class is E.Meer tonen
