An LED Labs strip from the STD line: a five-metre reel carrying 300 2835 SMD diodes, 60 to the metre, on an eight-millimetre board 3 mm thick. It runs warm white at 3000 K on 12 V, so the installation needs an LED driver. How much light the strip gives The manufacturer states 514 lm per metre, so 2570 lm from the whole reel. An old 60 W incandescent bulb gave around 800 lm, which means the brightness of an ordinary bulb arrives at roughly a metre and a half of strip — a reference point when working out how many metres a worktop or a shelf needs. 3000 K is warm white, closer to incandescent light than daylight. A colour rendering index of Ra 80 is enough that the colours of goods and fabrics do not shift noticeably, but where the shade has to be exact — over a work surface or in a wardrobe — a higher-CRI strip is often chosen instead. Luminous efficacy is 107 lm/W, and EPREL declaration 1076243 puts the strip in energy class F. Supply and cutting The strip draws 4.8 W per metre, so the full five-metre reel comes to 24 W. No driver is supplied, and it is chosen with headroom above that figure; 12 V also means the strip does not go straight to a wall socket. The cut points sit every 50 mm, so the shortest usable piece is 5 cm — lengths in between cannot be had without waste. The manufacturer declares dimming as possible only with certain dimmers, not with any controller. Mounting and operating conditions The underside carries a double-sided thermally conductive adhesive tape: the strip goes straight onto a clean, degreased surface, and the adhesive also carries heat from the diodes into that surface. The board uses 2 oz copper, which works towards the same heat path. The IP20 rating rules out rooms with raised humidity — the strip is protected against neither water nor dust. The operating temperature range runs from −20 °C to +45 °C, and the manufacturer puts L70/B50 life at 15,000 hours.Meer tonen
