The V-TAC Surface Panel is a round, flat LED fixture in a white plastic housing, mounted directly onto a ceiling or wall surface. The Samsung LED source is built into the body and cannot be replaced. Size and mounting The disc measures 121.2 mm across and only 30.6 mm high – a low, flat shape that, unlike a recessed panel, needs no hole cut into the ceiling. A metal mounting bracket and the power cable exit from the back, so fitting it is a matter of screwing the fixture in place and wiring it up. At 110 g, the panel is light enough that the mounting point needs no extra reinforcement. How much light it gives, and what kind Drawing 6 W, the panel outputs 660 lm, which at 110 lm/W makes it better suited to lighting a specific spot than to lighting a whole room on its own. The light is 6500 K, a cool tone close to daylight, and a colour rendering index of Ra 80+ gives correct, though not fully faithful, colour reproduction. Because the LED source is integrated, the whole panel has to be replaced once it reaches the end of its life – the manufacturer rates it at an average 18 years based on 3 hours of use a day. It is also rated for over 15,000 on/off cycles, which matters where the light is switched frequently, for example with a sensor or a timer.
