In ion chromatography, a basic solution is often used as mobile phase. The buffer capacity of such solutions is small, so the pH of the solution can be affected by the carbon dioxide in the air. Using a bottle in combination with a VICI cap and a carbon dioxide filter prevents any change in the pH of the mobile phase, thus increasing the stability and reproducibility of the analysis. In this application, the carbon dioxide filter also functions as an air inlet valve.Show more
