The TEKKNI IKKE set, catalogue number 38-0830-30, is a three-metre surface-mounted LED profile in silver anodised aluminium together with a frosted S10 polycarbonate diffuser. The profile is 12,5 mm wide and 7,3 mm high, so once fitted it stands roughly a finger's thickness off the surface. What is in the set and what is bought separately The box holds four items: the 3 m IKKE profile, the S10 diffuser in the frosted version, four plastic end caps and four metal mounting clips. The caps close both ends, which leaves the second pair as a spare. Neither an LED strip nor a driver is included - those are the two parts to order separately. The manufacturer places the driver outside the profile, so the installation needs a spot for it, in a cabinet or a flush box. Which strip fits and how the light is spread The channel inside the profile is 10,9 mm wide. That is the figure to compare the strip against before buying - the usual 8 mm and 10 mm strips go in freely, a strip wider than 10,9 mm will not. The frosted diffuser spreads the light, so the individual LEDs do not read as a row of dots and the line glows evenly. The cost is the part of the output held back in the diffuser - the transparent version is brighter but shows the diodes. Light leaves perpendicular to the mounting plane, so it lights whatever sits directly below or in front of the profile. How and where it is mounted The profile mounts on the surface with no groove to rout: either on double-sided tape, or on the metal clips screwed to the substrate, which the profile then snaps into. The manufacturer intends the system for decorative lighting in homes and offices - under kitchen cabinets, under shelves, along furniture. For the IKKE system the manufacturer offers no connector for joining two lengths, so a run longer than 3 m is made of separate sections.
