EXPLORE is a compact Nordlux wall light: a white cylindrical head 5.5 cm across, mounted on a pivot on a round wall base. The body is metal in RAL 9016 white, with plastic for the supporting parts. The whole fitting weighs 0.299 kg, so it puts almost no load on a plasterboard wall. The head aims where you are reading The head tilts through 90° and turns through 350°, so the beam can be pointed at a book or at the wall rather than washing the whole room. Nordlux positions the light first of all as a bedside fitting — for the bedroom and for children's and teenagers' rooms. It has one GU10 socket and takes a bulb of up to 7 W. That is the ceiling for the lamp you fit, not the output of the fitting itself, and it must not be exceeded. No bulb is supplied, so you choose the colour temperature and the lumen output separately. The fitting cannot be dimmed — brightness changes only with the bulb you put in. Two ways to connect it A 150 cm cable in clear plastic insulation is included, so plugged into a socket the light works with no change to the house wiring. The second option is mounting it straight onto a wall outlet. The supply cable is replaceable, and the manufacturer states that these fittings are not linked in series: each one needs its own supply. The switch sits on the wall base, so the light is operated at the fitting itself and needs no separate switched circuit run to it. The housing is double insulated (protection class II), which means the connection does not call for a protective earth conductor. Supply voltage is 220–240 V. How much wall it takes up The fitting is 11.5 cm high, 8 cm wide and projects 8 cm from the wall — three figures to compare against the gap you actually have between bed and wall.
