JAVALTO is a pendant built from nine slim tubes hanging on thin cables from a round black canopy 50 cm across. The tubes hang at different heights, and an acrylic strip runs down the length of each one, letting the light out. The body is matt black, made of aluminium and steel. How big it is and where to hang it The canopy measures 50 cm across and the whole composition stands 160 cm tall — that is the distance from the ceiling to the tip of the longest tube. Compare that figure with your own ceiling height: under a typical ceiling the fitting reaches roughly halfway down the wall, so what sits beneath it has to be a surface rather than a walkway. Above a dining table with its top 75 cm off the floor, the lowest tube should end 70–80 cm above the tabletop, which at the full 160 cm drop means either a taller-than-average ceiling or shortening the cables. The circular, 50 cm layout keeps its proportions over a round or square table; over a long narrow top it leaves the ends dark. The other situation for a drop this long is the open space above a staircase, where the cascade of tubes fills the height of two storeys. How much light it gives and in what colour The light source is a built-in 48 W LED module rated at 1920 lm. That is roughly two and a half old 60 W bulbs — enough for a table and its immediate surroundings, but not for a whole large living room. 3200 K is warm white: warmer than neutral light, though less yellow than a traditional incandescent bulb. The LED module is fixed in place, so there is no bulb to buy and none to change later — once the diodes are spent, the whole fitting is replaced. Materials and finish The build combines aluminium, steel and acrylic: the metal forms the canopy and the tube housings, the acrylic the luminous strips running along them. Everything is finished in a single matt black, so switched off the lamp reads as a set of black vertical lines under the ceiling. The form is minimal — smooth cylinders with no ornament, thin cables and no visible hardware beyond the round canopy.
