The GFA240 is a square recessed downlight in matt white, made for installation in a suspended ceiling or plasterboard. Only the 9 × 9 cm frame stays visible — the rest of the body hides above the ceiling. The reflector is funnel-shaped and sits on a movable ring. The opening it needs The cut-out measures 81 × 81 mm and the 90 × 90 mm frame covers it, so the edges of the cut do not have to be perfect. Allow 100 mm of clear space above the ceiling for the body, the lampholder and the supply cable. The fitting weighs 0,12 kg and is held in the opening by two spring clips that pull the frame up against the board from below — no screws and no separate frame are needed. The lamp and aiming the light The fitting takes one GU10 lamp of up to 35 W. Colour temperature and brightness are chosen with the lamp: the same downlight can give a warm 2700 K over a sofa or a neutral 4000 K over a worktop, and the width of the pool of light depends on the beam angle of the reflector lamp you pick. The inner ring carrying the lampholder tilts, so the light can be aimed at a wall, a picture or a cabinet front instead of straight down. The lamp sits deep inside the funnel and is not visible when the ceiling is viewed at an angle. Where it may be installed IP20 restricts the fitting to dry rooms: living spaces, hallways and kitchens away from the area directly above the sink. It runs on 230 V, and protection class I requires a PE earth conductor to be connected, so the installation belongs to a qualified electrician. Construction The body is aluminium painted matt white, inside the funnel as well, which lets the fitting disappear into a light-coloured ceiling.
