Zambelis 2046 is a pendant light shaped as a flat ring 40 cm across and 5.5 cm deep. The aluminium body is finished in brushed matt gold, and the underside of the ring is closed by a milky acrylic diffuser through which the light leaves. The fitting hangs on three thin cables from a round canopy 16 cm in diameter. How large the ring is and how high to hang it Forty centimetres across keeps the proportion over a table 80–90 cm wide. The cable is 200 cm and adjustable, so the height is shortened on site — over a dining table the lower edge of the ring usually ends up 70–80 cm above the top, so the light covers the whole surface without shining into the eyes of people seated. The ring itself is shallow at 5.5 cm and takes no room height away under a low ceiling. The canopy measures 16 cm across and 3.5 cm deep. Packed weight is 2.5 kg. How much light it gives and how it dims The LED module is permanently built in: it draws 32 W and delivers 1800 lm. An old 60 W bulb gave around 800 lm, so one fitting lights a table with room to spare. 3000 K is warm white with a slightly yellow cast, and the milky acrylic spreads it, so no individual points of light show under the shade. Colour rendering is Ra 80, the figure taken as normal for general lighting. The maker quotes a lifetime of L70B50 30,000 hours — at three hours a day that is more than twenty years of use. The source cannot be changed, as there is no thread and no lampholder; once spent, the whole fitting is replaced. It can be dimmed, but only with a TRIAC dimmer — an ordinary leading-edge type fitted into the back box in place of the switch. Control by remote or by app is not provided for.
