CELESTE is a wall light from the Czech brand RENDL light studio, with a gooseneck and a round reflector. Variant R14278 is the white version; the same model in black is R14279. A gooseneck and a switch on the base — why that combinationThese two features together define what this lamp is for. The gooseneck — a flexible neck that holds whatever position you set — lets you aim the light exactly where it is wanted: at a book, at a pillow, at a patch of wall. The switch on the base means the fitting is operated from where you are lying or sitting, without getting up and without a separate switch in the wiring.Together that makes a wall-mounted reading light: it takes no space on the bedside table and still works as a bedside lamp. For a bedroom above the bed, a child's room or beside an armchair. A milky diffuser: 480 lm without glareThe round reflector is closed with a milky diffuser that scatters the diode's light. Without it, a 4.8 W LED gives a hard point of glare to anyone looking straight at the fitting — with it, the emitting surface is larger and the luminance lower. On a reading light that the eye regularly falls on, that is the difference between comfort and eye strain.480 lm from 4.8 W is 100 lm/W. It is exactly what reading at a few tens of centimetres needs, and too little to light a room — which is consistent with its purpose. Integrated diode and 3000 K colourThe light source is permanently built in — RENDL states Integrated LED: Yes — so there are no bulbs to change in this fitting.
