SFERA DIMM is a small RENDL pendant: a flattened black cylinder 12 cm across and 5,5 cm deep, hung on a thin cable below a slim cylindrical canopy. It lights in both directions — the lower diffuser onto the surface below, the upper one onto the ceiling. How much room it takes under the ceiling The canopy is a cylinder 7 cm across and 16 cm tall — it stands well clear of the ceiling rather than sitting flush like the usual flat plate, and that height has to be counted into the drop. The suspension cable is 80 cm and the body 5,5 cm, so from ceiling to the bottom edge of the fitting is about 100 cm. At 12 cm across the body is a small silhouette; above a kitchen island or a long table several of these are usually hung side by side rather than one large fitting. The lamp weighs 0,71 kg. How much light it gives The light source is built in permanently and works in two directions: 15 W downwards and 9 W upwards, 1800 lm in total. That is more than twice what an old 60 W bulb gave, and part of the output goes to the ceiling and comes back as reflected light, soft and free of hard shadows. 3000 K is warm white. The diodes are not replaceable — the maker rates them for 20 000 hours. The fitting can be dimmed, but it needs a dimmer made for LED luminaires; the source is already inside, so there is nothing to choose separately. The shade is a separate product The maker offers the metal shades SFERA 35/4 and SFERA 36/12 for this pendant, which turn the discreet disc into a full-size shade. They are not included — they are bought separately, and the lamp works without them. Where it belongs The maker places SFERA DIMM above a kitchen island, above a table and in the living room.
