The series takes its name from the Latin ros – dew. The whole design is a record of it: three small glass beads are threaded onto a thin black rod, and a large blown amber glass sphere 16 cm across hangs at the bottom. It reads as a droplet running down a stem and gathering at its tip. Glass and light The shade is hand-blown and translucent in an amber tone, so once lit it glows as a whole rather than only downwards – and the light warms by a shade against the bulb's own colour. The three beads above the shade do not light; they catch reflections and extend the vertical line. The GU10 lampholder takes a reflector of up to 28 W; the fitting is not dimmable, so a dimmer is neither needed nor useful. Height adjustment – a wide range This is not a lamp of one fixed drop. The manufacturer states a range from 74 cm to 362.5 cm, with the wire itself shortenable up to 3 m. That range covers two quite different installations: low over a kitchen island, or a very long drop in a stairwell or above a mezzanine where the fitting has to descend a whole storey. Build and installation The fittings are metal finished in black; the ceiling rose is only ø6 cm and 2.5 cm high, so the fixing barely registers. The luminaire is class I – the circuit needs a protective earth. Supply AC 220–240 V, IP20 (dry interiors). Net weight 0.9 kg. The manufacturer gives a 5-year warranty. Grouping Ros is designed to be composed. Maytoni offers it in three colour combinations: black with clear glass, clear glass with brass, and amber glass with black (this model). Several fittings hung at different heights – even in different combinations – read as one coherent group, because the same thin rod and the same droplet form tie them together.
