The s.luce Atom XL is a ready-made combination of three Atom pendants — open globes of 30, 50 and 70 cm woven from metal hoops in black chrome — hung from a single round Modular XL canopy of 80 cm in black. Each globe hangs on its own black cable, so the three can be set at different heights. The luminaires are assembled by hand. How big it is and where to hang it The 80 cm canopy gathers all three pendants over one electrical outlet, and the individual drivers sit inside it. The largest globe measures 70 cm and the maximum drop is 250 cm; compare it with the clear height over your staircase, since the set is meant for galleries, stairwells and tall rooms. A longer suspension is made to order for a surcharge. The set weighs 19.1 kg, so the fixing has to reach a load-bearing part of the ceiling rather than the board of a suspended one. How much light it gives and how it dims The three globes carry 152 LED festoon lamps of 0.3 W each. Together they produce 4104 lm at 3000 K, a warm white — at that output the fitting works as the main light of the room rather than as an accent (a former 60 W bulb is roughly 800 lm). Colour rendering is above Ra 80. The festoon lamps are replaced one at a time, so a spent diode does not idle a whole globe. The set dims on a leading-edge or trailing-edge phase dimmer; the dimmer itself is not included. What is in the box and how it goes up The set contains the Modular XL canopy, the Atom 30, Atom 50 and Atom 70 pendants, the conversion that puts three luminaires on one canopy, and the steel-cable holder. The light sources are built into the globes, so nothing has to be bought before the first switch-on. A mounting cross is screwed to the ceiling and the canopy fixed to it with decorative nuts. The pendants go in one by one, are aligned to height and joined with the supplied terminals, and a round cover closes the assembly. How it reads in a room The globes have no shade — they are a dense mesh of metal hoops with diodes at the crossing points, so light leaves them in every direction and the hoops cast a pattern of shadows onto walls and ceiling. Switched off, a clearly geometric form remains. The manufacturer points the set at the living room and the stairwell, and outside the home at entrance areas, bars and restaurants.Mostra di più
