The Lucide CHAYANNE 05446/13/30 is a pendant lamp with three shades hung on black cords from a round 30 cm canopy. The shades are aluminium finished in matt black with a satin surface, and their collar and interior are finished in matt gold. The three shades differ in form — from a narrow bell to a low, wide dome. What height to hang it at The manufacturer gives an adjustable height of 90 to 156.5 cm, with the qualifier that it is set before installation: the cord is shortened once, permanently, rather than raised and lowered afterwards. The height therefore has to be chosen before the fitting goes up. Above a dining table with a 75 cm top, the lower edges of the shades are usually set 70–80 cm above the surface, which on this lamp falls in the lower part of the range. The canopy is 30 cm across and 2.5 cm deep, so it covers a standard installation box with room to spare. The whole fitting weighs 1.2 kg — in a plasterboard ceiling the fixing should reach the supporting structure. Which bulbs to buy The three lampholders take an E14 thread with a limit of 10 W each. That is modest, but ample for LED sources — a typical E14 LED draws a few watts; the limit does rule out higher-powered halogen and incandescent bulbs. No bulbs are supplied. The shades are open at the bottom and their gold interior throws the light back in a warm tone, so the bulb is visible from beneath. That is why the manufacturer recommends its own source 49022/04/60 — a decorative P45 filament bulb, 4.5 cm across, E14, 4 W, 2700 K, clear glass. A frosted envelope will be just as visible, only without the filament pattern. The fitting is not dimmable: the manufacturer specifies control by an ordinary light switch and does not provide for use with a dimmer. Supply is 230 V, and protection class II means no earth conductor is required. Construction and where it can go The shades are aluminium, the canopy metal, the finish satin. An IP20 rating is intended for dry interiors only — a bathroom and any outdoor spot, sheltered or not, are ruled out.
