GES451 is a garden bollard 50 cm tall, made of aluminium in an anthracite finish. The body is angular with a 15 × 12 cm footprint, and its face is taken up by a narrow vertical light slot running almost the full height. Half a metre above the ground Fifty centimetres is the height at which the light falls on the paving and the lawn edge rather than into the eyes of whoever is walking past. A bollard like this traces the line of a path and shows where the hard surface ends, instead of lighting the garden from above. The footprint is 15 × 12 cm, so the fitting takes little room at the edge of a path and stays out of the mowing line. Along a longer stretch, several set at equal intervals give a run of repeating reference points — easier to read than one strong source at the far end. How much light it gives The built-in 13 W LED module produces 1200 lm at 4000 K, a neutral white — cooler than the light indoors, but clearer about the difference between paving, gravel and grass. The colour rendering index is above Ra 80. The beam angle is 253°, so the light does not only leave the front but wraps almost the whole way round. Set beside a path, the bollard lights it from both sides at once, with no dark field behind it. The maker states 30,000 hours of diode life; the source is built in permanently and cannot be replaced. Weather resistance and wiring An IP65 rating means full protection against dust and resistance to jets of water — the bollard can stand with no shelter, in rain and within reach of a sprinkler. The housing is aluminium, so it carries the diodes' heat away and does not distort as temperatures swing. The fitting runs on 230 V and is protection class I, which means an earth conductor has to be brought to it — the garden circuit must be built with earthing.Mostra di più
