ASTINA QPAR51 is a surface-mounted ceiling light shaped as a plain cylinder 7 cm across and 14.5 cm tall. The body is white-painted aluminium with no ornament at all. Just above the light opening runs a glass ring that picks up part of the lamp's output and brightens with it. How it mounts and how much room it takes The manufacturer lists the fitting as surface-mounted: it screws onto a finished ceiling and needs neither a cut-out nor void above the board. That single difference is what decides between this and a recessed downlight — it suits places where the ceiling cannot be opened up, a concrete slab among them. The fitting occupies 7 cm of ceiling diameter and projects 14.5 cm below it, roughly a hand's width. It weighs 0.418 kg. It is protection class I, so an earth conductor is needed at the connection; it leaves the factory ready for direct connection to a 230 V mains supply. Which lamp to buy There is one GU10 lampholder and no lamp in the box. The manufacturer gives 10 W as the highest permitted lamp power and accepts both GU10 halogen lamps and LED retrofits in the same base, so light colour and brightness are yours to pick. SLV recommends QPAR51 reflector lamps in 2700 K, 3000 K and 4000 K — from warm, yellowish light through to neutral white. Worth remembering that the lamp sets the beam angle, not the fitting: the same body draws a tight pool with a 36° reflector and covers a wider area with a broader source. How it spreads light and where it belongs Light leaves downward only, square to the ceiling — the fitting lights the surface beneath it rather than the whole room. The glass ring at the lower edge brightens once the lamp is on and outlines the body, so the cylinder does not read as a dark shape on the ceiling. The manufacturer intends the ASTINA for dry interiors.
