ALICANTE MOD014WL-01N is a wall light in nickel-finished metal with a white cylindrical fabric shade. The curved arm rises from a round backplate screwed to the wall, and just below the shade it carries a ring of clear glass with a fluted surface. How much wall it takes up The fitting is 26 cm high and stands exactly that far out from the wall; its width is set by the 17 cm shade. A projection equal to the height is a lot for a wall light, so that figure is worth comparing with the width of the passage where the lamp is going — in a narrow hallway or right beside a door it will be in the way. It meets the wall on a round backplate 12 cm across, which covers the wiring box. The fitting weighs 570 g, or 930 g with its packaging. What bulb it takes The E14 lampholder takes one bulb of up to 40 W — a ceiling for the lamp, not the fitting's own consumption. No bulb is supplied, so colour and brightness are yours to choose. The manufacturer does not provide for dimming on this model. It runs on 230 V in protection class I, which means it needs a connection to the earth conductor — in an older installation without earthing that is worth checking before fitting. It is specified for indoor use only. Shade, glass and finish The shade is a cylinder 17 cm across and 12.5 cm high, sewn from white fabric on a stiff PVC backing. It stays open at the bottom, so part of the light falls straight down while the rest passes through the fabric soft and diffused. The metal parts carry a nickel finish with a satin sheen.
