Sneaky in size L is a tall terracotta vase that narrows towards the top and is finished in matt black. A raffia collar runs around the mouth, stitched through holes in the clay rim — the only light element on the whole body. How big it is and how much room it takes The vase stands 31 cm tall on a 14 × 14 cm footprint, so it uses less surface than a dinner plate and reaches higher than most wine bottles. The silhouette tapers upwards, which holds stems in a narrow bunch instead of letting them splay out. The same model comes in three heights — 22, 26 and 31 cm — and all three share the identical 14 × 14 cm footprint. Side by side they step up; on their own they differ only in the stem length they take. What goes inside For dried flowers, grasses and branches the vase works as it is — you simply put them in. For cut flowers the manufacturer's instruction is to set a glass or another small container inside, fill that with water, and arrange the bunch in it. That is an extra step worth knowing before buying: water does not go straight into the terracotta. The inserted container stays out of sight, because the mouth is narrow and the raffia collar covers it. Finish and where it may stand The body is terracotta — fired clay — painted matt black with no sheen. The collar is raffia, a natural plant fibre, sewn on by hand, so the run of the strands differs from piece to piece. The vase is made in Indonesia. The manufacturer specifies indoor use only.
