The IS 3360 KNX V3.1AP is a surface-mounted ceiling motion and presence detector in a round white plastic housing of 12.6 cm diameter and 6.5 cm height. Beneath it sits the dome of the passive infrared sensor covering a full 360°, and the unit works as a device on the KNX bus. Range and mounting height The manufacturer gives three different ranges, because an infrared sensor responds differently to movement across its field than to movement straight towards it. Tangentially the figure is Ø 40 m, or 1257 m² of floor; radially, when someone walks directly under the detector, Ø 8 m (50 m²); presence — the small movements of a person sitting still — is picked up within a circle of Ø 3 m (7 m²). Those figures apply at mounting heights of 2.5 to 4 m, with 2.8 m stated as the optimum. The higher the detector sits, the larger the field it covers and the worse it reads small movements, so the presence zone has to be planned separately from the motion zone. Connecting to the KNX bus The detector is powered from the KNX bus: up to 30 V, rated current 12.5 mA, with the bus coupler built in. It is not wired to a 230 V circuit and it holds no relay contact. Its readings go onto the bus as KNX objects — two light outputs, a presence output, an HVAC output and the brightness value — while the luminaires and ventilation are switched by an actuator in the distribution board. Settings and operating conditions Parameters are set in the ETS software or over the bus, optionally with the RC6/RC7 KNX remote or Smart Remote, neither of which is included. The twilight setting covers 2-1000 lx, and constant light control and a base light function are available. IP54 and an ambient range of -20 to 50 °C allow outdoor use as well, as long as the mounting surface is a ceiling or soffit.
