LESTER 21112/06/30 is a flush ceiling light with six arms running out from a round black ceiling plate 10 cm across. Each arm is a thin metal rod bent at right angles, ending in a small E27 socket that points downwards. The whole fitting is powder-coated matt black. How much ceiling it takes up The fitting's footprint is 100 × 75 cm — compare that rectangle with the ceiling area over the table or the seating group it is meant for. It drops only 20 cm below the ceiling and that height cannot be altered, so it suits rooms with a low ceiling as well. The fitting weighs 1.5 kg and fixes to a plate 10 × 10 × 2.5 cm; the mounting materials are supplied. The manufacturer specifies it for indoor use only. Six E27 bulbs, none of them included The arms end in six E27 sockets rated up to 40 W each. The manufacturer supplies no bulbs, so six have to be bought to put the fitting into service — a cost that is added to the price of the fitting and is not visible in it. The socket collar is only 4.3 cm across and there is no shade at all: the whole bulb stays exposed, so its shape and the tone of its glass are part of how the lamp looks. Lucide recommends its own ST64 source for it — a decorative LED bulb, E27, 4.9 W, 2200 K in amber glass, article number 49034/05/62. Switching and dimming The fitting wires to a 230 V supply and is switched with an ordinary wall switch. The manufacturer allows dimming, but the fitting has no electronics of its own — a separately bought dimmer and bulbs marked as dimmable are both needed. Without the two of them the lamp runs at one fixed brightness. It is protection class I, so the supply cable has to carry an earth conductor; on an installation without earthing it must not be connected. Build and style The whole structure is metal powder-coated in matt black — the mounting plate included. The manufacturer itself calls LESTER's style vintage, and the drawing the stepped rods make on the ceiling is the only ornament here; apart from the bulbs the fitting carries no decorative element.
