Lucide GREGORY is a pendant lamp with three cone-shaped shades grouped into a single body 34.3 cm across. The shades are covered in black fabric with a visible weave and are white on the inside. The frame and the ceiling plate are steel, spray painted black. How big it is and how high it hangs The drop is set before installation, anywhere between 70 and 165 cm. Over a table the shades are usually hung so that their lower edge sits 70–80 cm above the top — the light then covers the table surface and stays out of the eyes of anyone seated. The ceiling plate is 10 cm across and covers a standard junction box. The manufacturer supplies the installation materials. How much light it gives and what you need to buy The fitting has three E27 sockets, each for a bulb of up to 60 W, at 230 V. No bulbs are included, so three of them have to be bought before the lamp will work. The manufacturer recommends its own 4.9 W LED filament bulb at 2200 K — a very warm light with an amber cast. The fabric of the shades is not translucent and the white interiors throw the light downwards; the manufacturer describes the distribution as diffuse, in all directions. How bright the lamp ends up being therefore depends on the three bulbs you fit. Dimming and wiring The lamp can be dimmed, but it carries no control electronics of its own: a dimmer bought separately and bulbs marked as dimmable are both needed. Day to day it works from an ordinary light switch. The fitting is electrical class I, so the ceiling box has to carry an earth conductor. The manufacturer intends it for indoor use only and gives a 2-year warranty on the fitting itself. What interior it suits The manufacturer calls the style cottage: the natural weave of the fabric and a soft cone form instead of metal and sharp edges. The black shade with a white interior draws a clear outline against a pale wall.
