DOMAIRA is a floor lamp built from a narrow rectangular frame of black metal set into a cuboid concrete base. The concrete is left raw — the fine aggregate and a grey, matt texture are visible in it. A single continuous line of light runs along the inner edge of the frame. How much light it gives The LED module is permanently built in and comes with the lamp: there is no socket and no cap here, so no bulb is bought or changed, and when the diodes are spent the whole luminaire is replaced. Power draw is 26 W. The manufacturer states 1431 lm, roughly what two traditional 60 W bulbs give. That is enough for the lamp to work as the main light in a corner of a room rather than only as a supplement. The 3000 K colour is warm white — warmer than daylight, without the distinct yellow of 2700 K. The light leaves a single line stretched over almost the whole height of the frame, so it spreads vertically across the wall and the ceiling instead of falling on one spot. How big it is and where it will stand The lamp is 160.5 cm tall, of which the frame takes 143 cm — the rest is the concrete block at the bottom. That is close to an adult's height, so the top edge of the frame sits roughly at eye level. The base occupies a 12 × 10 cm rectangle of floor. A footprint that small lets the lamp slide between an armchair and the wall or right beside the end of a sofa; the frame itself is only 12 cm wide, so in profile it is almost invisible. Build and operation The manufacturer gives concrete as the lamp's material — it forms the base and it supplies the mass that keeps the tall frame upright. The frame is black and matt while the concrete base is grey, so the lamp sets two colours against each other rather than one. A switch is fitted on the supply cord and is visible in the manufacturer's photographs — the lamp is switched with a foot at floor level, without reaching for the body. Supply is 230 V, and the IP20 rating means closed, dry rooms only.Show more
