CHINKA 8210112 is a floor lamp with a slender turned base of solid wood painted white and a conical cotton shade in grey. The shade opens upwards and the whole lamp stands 160 cm tall. It stands free on the floor and needs no mounting.How big it is and where to stand it The shade alone is 60 cm tall and starts roughly a metre above the floor, about the height of a bar counter. The bulb therefore sits high up and stays inside the cone, out of the eyeline of anyone sitting beside it. The base rests on a circle 15 cm across and the shade widens to 25 cm at the top — two measurements to compare with the free space beside an armchair or at the end of a sofa. The white cable is 1.5 m long and ends in a plug, so the lamp only needs to stand within reach of a socket and can be moved elsewhere at any time.How much light it gives The socket takes one E27 bulb of up to 60 W and runs on 230 V. The manufacturer states that an LED bulb may be fitted, so you choose the colour and brightness of the light yourself — for a living room most people pick 2700–3000 K, a warm, slightly yellow light. The cone narrows towards the bottom and is open at the top, so most of the output goes towards the ceiling and returns to the room reflected. This is indirect light: the lamp fills the room softly and works as a supplement to the main lighting rather than as the only light source in the room.Finish and care The base is turned from solid wood and painted white — the grain stays visible under the coat of paint. The manufacturer states that all paints and oils used for the finish are certified and environmentally safe. The grey cotton shade should be wiped with a damp cloth, as the manufacturer advises.
