GFA763N is a square surface-mounted ceiling light in matt white, with a thermoplastic body and a recessed square cover in anti-glare plastic. The LED module is built in and comes with it. How big it is and where it fits The fitting measures 12 × 12 cm and drops just 3 cm below the ceiling, so it stays out of the way under a low ceiling or above a door, where an ordinary ceiling light starts to intrude. It weighs 0.2 kg — the ceiling build decides which fixings to use, not the weight. This is a point-sized fitting, about a square the width of a palm. Lighting a whole room takes several of them or one larger fitting. How much light it gives The module draws 6 W and gives 450 lm. For comparison, an old 60 W incandescent bulb gave around 800 lm, so one GFA763N is noticeably dimmer — enough over an entrance, in a wardrobe, by a staircase, or as one of several sources along a corridor. 4000 K is neutral white, without the yellow cast of warm light and without the chill of anything above 5000 K. Light leaves at 120°, that is wide and straight down; with a colour rendering index above 80, colours read correctly, though not as faithfully as at Ra 90. Light source and control The LED is integrated into the fitting — there is no holder and no lamp to change, and the manufacturer quotes 35,000 hours for the module. After that the whole fitting is replaced rather than the source. It cannot be dimmed: it works on and off only, so putting it on a dimmer circuit gives no control. Brightness is settled by choosing this model, not by choosing a lamp. Supply and where it may be mounted The fitting runs straight off 220–240 V mains and is double insulated (class II), so no earth conductor has to reach the back box. IP20 means dry interiors only — it is not a fitting for a shower zone or a covered terrace.Show more
