BLOOM 4 in beige is a pendant with four opal glass globes set on a single upright stem. The globes come in two sizes — two of 20 cm and two of 14 cm across — and stand off the stem at different heights, one globe below another. The metal parts, ceiling rose included, are finished in a sandy beige. How low it will hang The body of the fitting is 48 cm tall, and the manufacturer gives 120 cm as the overall height — the rest is the cable the pendant hangs from. The length can be shortened, though the manufacturer reserves that for an electrician. Across, it spans 46 cm, which is the space it will occupy above a tabletop. Hung over a table, the bottom edge of the largest globe is usually set 70–80 cm above the top: the light then covers the table and the globes do not block the faces of anyone sitting opposite. The fitting weighs 2.45 kg, well within the load of an ordinary ceiling hook. Four light points and two kinds of cap The pendant has four light points, but not all on the same cap: two are E14 and two are E27. Buying lamps for it therefore means two sets rather than four identical bulbs. The power limits differ too: up to 10 W LED on E14 and up to 15 W LED on E27. For the E14 pair the manufacturer also asks for narrow lamps no more than 10.2 cm tall — an ordinary candle bulb is often longer and will not disappear inside the 14 cm globe. What light it gives and where it fits The globes are opal glass and therefore opaque: instead of the point glare of a bulb you see an evenly lit sphere, and the light travels in every direction. The four globes at different heights light independently of one another rather than as a single plane.
