Two colours, two forms The Violet Quartz Vase is made of two clearly different parts: a tall, smooth tube of purple glass, and beneath it a flattened sphere in green, cut into small diamonds like the stone of a ring. That pairing — cool purple against deep green — is what the object is actually about; the name "Violet Quartz" describes the colour of the glass, not a mineral the vase is carved from. Recycled glass, shaped by hand The maker produces this vase from recycled glass, by hand. The practical consequence is that no two pieces are identical. The purple runs a little warmer or a little cooler, fine air bubbles can appear in the body, and the cut of the base may vary by a fraction of a millimetre.
