SPLIT 8882 is a ceiling fitting shaped as a narrow tube: a cylinder 4 cm across and 20.2 cm tall, made of aluminium finished in white. A decorative ring slides onto the lower rim — two come in the box, one gold and one silver, and the fitting can also be used without either. Light falls straight down, along the axis of the cylinder; there is no joint for tilting the beam. How big the tube is and how far it drops The cylinder measures 4 cm in diameter and reaches 20.2 cm below the ceiling. Compare that with the height of the room and with how low the fitting may come over a walkway or a worktop. The manufacturer notes that the height is not adjustable — those 20.2 cm are fixed. The fitting weighs 0.16 kg and mounts on the surface of the ceiling rather than inside it, so it needs neither a cut-out nor free space above the board. Within the SPLIT family the same tube comes in three lengths — 10.2, 20.2 and 30.2 cm — at the same 4 cm cross-section, which lets several of them sit side by side ending at different levels. Which bulb you need to buy The fitting takes one GU10 bulb and none is supplied — you choose the colour temperature and the brightness when you buy the lamp. The upper power limit is 12 W; that is the number to check against the bulb packaging. The manufacturer describes the fitting as non-dimmable, so brightness is settled once, by the choice of bulb, and not by a dimmer on the wall. The bulb goes into the tube from below, and the decorative ring only slides onto the rim afterwards. Power supply and build The body is aluminium rather than plastic — metal carries the bulb's heat out of the fitting. White covers the whole outer surface of the cylinder; the colour at the lower rim depends on which of the two supplied rings you fit. A plate fixed with two screws 25 mm apart holds the fitting to the ceiling, the conductors go into a terminal block, and the tube then slides onto the plate. The manufacturer states protection class II: the fitting is double-insulated and needs no earth conductor, which matters in older installations without earthing.
