Bold O598FL-01GR is an 80 cm bollard light: a grey aluminium cylinder topped with a spherical opal shade 20 cm across. The globe is the widest part of the fitting — the shaft itself is noticeably narrower. What a bollard of this height lights The opal shade glows evenly in every direction, sideways and upward included. At 80 cm that puts the light point roughly at the eye level of a seated person: the bollard marks the line of a path, the edge of a drive or the boundary of a terrace and gives soft light around itself, but it will not light a whole garden or stand in for a lamp above a door. A 20 cm globe is visible in daylight too, which is why the Bold series works when set out in a repeated rhythm — several bollards at even spacing along a path read as one element of the layout. What lamp it takes The fitting runs one replaceable E27 lamp of up to 60 W. Colour and brightness are your choice: around 800 lm matches the old 60 W bulb, and 2700–3000 K gives warm light, which outdoors attracts fewer insects than cool light. The fitting is not dimmable. Conditions and installation The IP54 rating means protection against dust and against splashing water from any direction — enough for a fitting standing in the open, but below IP65, so the bollard is not intended for places hit by water jets. The manufacturer gives an operating range of -40 to +50 °C and a supply of AC 100–260 V. The fitting is protection class I, so the connection needs an earth conductor. It weighs 1.42 kg net and 2.42 kg with packaging — it is light, so its stability depends entirely on how it is anchored to the ground. Maytoni covers it with a five-year warranty. The Bold series Bold is a family of outdoor fittings built around the same opal globe. Besides the standing version it includes the wall luminaires O598WL-01GR and O598WL-01B, so a path and a house wall can be lit with fittings of identical form.
