Boden 862 is an outdoor wall light shaped as a flat rectangular box with a 31 × 16 cm face divided by horizontal bands. The front is hot-dip galvanized steel or powder-coated cast aluminium, the base is cast aluminium, and the diffuser is clear polycarbonate. This unit carries a copper patina finish. How much room it needs and how it fixes The face measures 31 × 16 cm and the fitting projects 10.5 cm from the wall — that last figure is the one to compare against the distance from the mounting point to a door frame or a recess. It weighs 1.55 kg. It fixes on two ø4.5 mm holes spaced 90 × 160 mm, so the plug positions are known before unpacking. The terminals take up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and the fitting can be looped through with up to 3 × 1.5 mm² — further wall lights in a row then run off one line. The gland accepts a round cable of 7 to 10.5 mm diameter. Which lamp it needs The fitting has an E27 thread and is rated for LED lamps of up to 9 W only — a 60 W incandescent or halogen lamp must not be used. The lamp is not included, and the end user can change it. Norlys names the Philips Master LEDbulb 806 lm / 8.5 W / 2700 K in its dimmable version as a matching source — 806 lm corresponds to an old 60 W bulb, and 2700 K is a warm light with a yellow cast. The diffuser is colourless and the manufacturer classifies the distribution as open light: the lamp is visible and the beam spreads all around the fitting, not only downwards. How it takes the weather, and what is replaceable IP54 protects against dust and splashing water from any direction, so the fitting suits an exposed facade. The polycarbonate diffuser is UV-stabilised and a silicone gasket seals it against the body. The manufacturer gives a nominal ambient temperature of +25 °C and an operating range from -20 °C to +45 °C, which covers a Central European winter. The fitting is protection class I, so the installation has to be earthed. The two wearing parts are available separately: the diffuser as service kit 06860004 and the gasket as 08550009 — years later the whole wall light need not be replaced.Show more
