The V-TAC VT-8630 dome light is a surface-mounted ceiling fixture with a square PP and PMMA diffuser in a white frame. The LED source is permanently built in and the fixture is only 6.5 cm tall, so it sits close to the ceiling. How big it is and where to mount it The diffuser measures 42 × 42 cm and the fixture is 6.5 cm high — a flat shape fixed directly onto the ceiling, with no protruding canopy or drop. The IP44 rating lets it be mounted in a bathroom, for example above a sink or in a shower area, where resistance to water splashes matters. How much light it gives and its colour The built-in 48 W LED module produces a luminous flux of 5160 lm — enough light to replace several traditional bulbs and to serve as the main light source for a mid-sized room. The colour temperature of 3000 K is a warm, slightly yellowish white, close to an incandescent bulb. A colour rendering index of Ra>80 gives faithful colour reproduction, which matters in front of a bathroom mirror. Light spreads at a 360° angle evenly across the whole diffuser. The source cannot be replaced — the whole fixture is replaced once it reaches the end of its life; the manufacturer states a lifespan of 20,000 hours, equal to roughly 18 years at three hours of daily use, and resistance to more than 15,000 on/off cycles. It reaches full brightness in 0.001 sec, so the light switches on instantly, without a gradual warm-up.
