S027 is a trimless recessed downlight made of pure white gypsum, with a round body 10 cm across and 3 cm deep. It has no visible ring or flange — the body is set into the ceiling and skimmed over together with the board, so once the work is finished only the aperture with the lamp in it remains visible.What opening it needs and how much room above the ceilingThe manufacturer gives a cutting hole of 10.3 cm in diameter and a required depth of 9 cm. That second figure decides whether the fitting goes in at all: 9 cm has to stay clear above the plasterboard, counting the conduit that runs above the fitting.Mounting flanges are built into the body, so no extra springs or brackets need buying for the installation. No connecting lead is supplied — the fitting is wired to the installation already in place.Which lamp to buyThe GU10 lampholder is included, the bulb is not — it has to be bought separately, rated no higher than 35 W.
