Microsorb C4 is a butylsilane-bonded silica with a monofunctional binder to maximize coverage. It is also fully end-capped with trimethylsilyl groups to minimize the influence of silanol groups. Due to its short binding chains and 300 Å pore size, Microsorb C4 is ideal for reverse-phase separations of relatively hydrophobic peptides and proteins that are too strongly retained by C8 and C18 packings. The packing material is also suitable for the separation of larger proteins and for chromatographic scale-up. The HPLC column presented is 4.6 mm in internal diameter, 250 mm in length and has 5.0 µm large particles. The Microsorb MV columns are packed with the same high quality packing material as the regular Microsorb columns and have the same performance.
