NORA 8402 is a floor lamp 165 cm tall: a slim tube on a round flat base, both in a gold finish, topped with a goblet-shaped shade in clear glass. The maker gives the finish as Oro/Blanco and the materials as bronze and glass. The shade is clear — the bulb shows The glass does not hide the light source, so the bulb becomes part of the shape. That settles the choice: NORA wants a decorative lamp — a globe, a candle or a retro filament — rather than an ordinary frosted bulb with a visible heatsink. The fitting takes one E27 lamp up to 20 W; none is supplied. The shade throws light in every direction, so the lamp gives general light spread through the room rather than a focused beam for reading. Colour is yours to choose — a living room usually calls for 2700–3000 K. Foot switch and cable The lamp has a foot switch on the cable: you turn it on with a foot, without stooping to the tube or hunting for a switch at a shade 165 cm up. The cable is 2 m long and gold-coloured to match the body — it does not stand out, but it sets how far from a socket the lamp can stand. There is no dimming. It runs on 100–240 V at 50/60 Hz and is protection class II, so it needs no earth. An IP20 rating places it in dry interiors. Size, stability and the room 165 cm is a fixed height — the structure cannot be shortened or extended. The shade sits at roughly the eye level of someone standing, and so above the sight line of anyone seated; the lamp goes beside an armchair or sofa, not in front of it.
